Summer meditation—a post from my favorite guest blogger

A summer morning at Aldersea (our farm home)--
through the eyes of my bride.

Picture
Still blue sky
Early hush of summer in the morning
All in bloom
Heavy with dew
Heavy with honeysuckle sweet.

Quiet but for early rising barking—intermittent--
And the rooster next door
And birds busy in the branches
Of the willow.

The sun, with deliberation, crests our farm poplars
Lined up behind the barn,
Warm on my face,
In chill dewy air.

(I remember--
Very young, greeting a
Blue sky morning like this
Silenced, awed with
Wonderment
At your expansive beauty, Creator God.)

Welcome, fine day.

Very sweet, Melis. Brought to mind memories of summer mornings long ago when thru a child's eyes I too gazed at the world in similar wonder...

So beautiful, Melissa. Lots of mornings I wake up and see the dirty living room, piles of laundry and the mountain of homeschooling and child training ahead. Thank you so much for this lovely reminder of where my mind should be aimed for in the morning; towards the Creator and His glory.
