The North Star Journal a chronicle of life at Aldersea
Eight years ago, an enterprising eight-year-old got the idea of creating a small newsletter for her grandparents, aunts and uncles, and a few friends. Melissa and I are both writers and we were charmed by the hand-colored drawings and quaint stories of our first-born child. "What better schooling could Anna experience?" we thought. Creative writing, artwork and layout, grammar and spelling, all in the context of a real, live communication with people that we knew and loved.
Since that first edition, the newsletter has gone through a variety of changes—brothers and sisters have been brought into the mix to write articles, then, when old enough, have spelled Anna as editor-in-chief. This online "webzine" is the latest version, chronicling life on our farm, Aldersea.
This is an "occasional" publication. We don't have a set schedule for the release of each new edition—and, with the novelty long ago worn off, sometimes it takes a good bit of encouragement to get a copy off the ground.
Above all, the North Star Journal is an expression of our hope that giving you a window into the happenings in our family will open windows on the character of our God. We're a work in process, but He cares enough to keep working in us even when we're hard to work with.
So, welcome aboard this newest evolution of the North Star Journal. Anyone can subscribe and we appreciate everyone who comments . . .
